Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 10, 2016) – Despite having two players record six kills each, the Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team dropped their home finale 3-0 to visiting Fayetteville State on Thursday night at Brayboy Gym.
Junior
Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) and sophomore
Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) hit .250 and .308 respectively, but JCSU could not overcome 13 errors, finishing with a .100 hitting percentage. The Broncos knocked down 50 kills on the match, good for a .424 hitting percentage in the 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-17) win.
In addition to McNeil and Smoots, JCSU got four kills from
Keondra Jones (West Columbia, S.C.) while freshman
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) had 10 digs on the night.
FSU was led by Chynna Hunt's 11 kills and Nakia McKinnie's 19 assists. Teammate Tilar Stanford also had 19 assists for the Broncos.
The loss drops JCSU to 4-17 overall, 2-13 in CIAA play and 0-9 in the Southern Division while Fayetteville State improves to 17-7, 12-4 in CIAA action and 8-2 in the Southern Division.
The Golden Bulls will complete their season with a 6:00 p.m. road match on Monday, Nov. 14
