Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 12, 2016) –
The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team outscored visiting Seton Hill University 23-14 in the fourth quarter to run away with a 78-64 win in the CIAA-PSAC Challenge in Brayboy Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Seton Hill came out fast, as they built a 14-7 lead after a Lindsey Mifsud three-pointer.  JCSU would cut the lead to 18-14 at the 4:03 mark, but another three-pointer, this time from Alexandra Deep boosted the Griffin lead to 21-14. The SHU lead would swell to 26-16 after a pair of Deep free throws with 36 seconds left in the first quarter.

After the lead grew to 11 points at 29-18 at the 9:09 mark of the second quarter, JCSU embarked on 14-4 run over the next 4:19 to tie the game at 33-33.  Seton Hill then quickly jumped up 38-33 before another scoring burst from the Golden Bulls took a 38-35 lead, but SHU's Deep again connected from long range to tie it at 38-38. A Jenna Kaufman jumper with 38 seconds remaining provided the 40-38 halftime cushion.

In the third quarter, neither team could pull away until JCSU scored three straight baskets, including a three-point play from senior Krista White (Dayton, Ohio) that put the Golden Bulls up 53-47 with 2:39 left.  JCSU would then go up by eight points (55-47) after a Malia Rivers (Pageland, S.C.) layup.  A Jenna Kaufman three pointer would then pull the Griffins to within 55-50 at the end of the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, JCSU went on an 18-7 run to build their largest lead of the game, 73-57 at the 4:18 mark following a Kendall Adams (Opelika, Ala.) layup.
