Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 15, 2016) – 
The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team used a potent inside game to down Benedict 64-45 in Columbia, S.C. on Tuesday night.

Junior Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) finished with 14 points and four assists while senior teammate Christian Williams (Chesapeake, Va.) tallied 12 points and six rebounds in the win. Williams went 6-of-8 from the field while Davis finished 6-of-12.

The Golden Bulls also turned 15 Tiger turnovers into 19 point while outscoring Benedict 28-18 in the paint. Collectively, JCSU shot 51.9% (27-of-52) from the field while limiting Benedict to just 32.7% (16-of-49).

Benedict got 13 points from Christopher Spencer and 11 from Keon Scott in the loss.

The win improves JCSU to 1-1 on the season while Benedict dropped to 0-1.

The Golden Bulls will return home to host the JCSU Tip-Off Classic this upcoming weekend. Play begins Friday, Nov. 18 at 5:30 with Livingstone facing Felician University. JCSU will take to the floor at 7:30 p.m. against Bluefield State.
