Spartanburg, S.C. (Nov. 18, 2016) –
Senior Anika Jones led four players in double-figures and the Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team took a 65-53 win over Francis Marion at the Courtyard Classic hosted by Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday afternoon.

Jones, a Shelby native, scored 14 points on a 6-of-10 shooting effort. She also added five assists, six steals and six rebounds in the win. Senior teammate Krista White (Dayton, Ohio) had 13 points on the evening while putting in a 6-of-9 effort from the field.  She also contributed with four steals and four rebounds in the win.

Asha Jordan (Monroe, N.C.) and Blaire Thomas (Waterloo, Iowa) each had 11 points for the Golden Bulls to round out the double-digit scorers.

As a team, the Golden Bulls shot 46.3% from the field (25-of-54) and forced the Patriots to just a 36.1% (22-of-61) shooting effort.  JCSU also forced 28 turnovers and scored 26 points off the Patriot miscues.

JCSU also held a distinct advantage on bench points by outscoring FMU 35-13.

The win improves the Golden Bulls to 3-1 on the season. Francis Marion, ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region, falls to 2-2 on the year.
