Golden Bulls Women Take Down Queens, 59-48

Box Score JCSU Women Down Queens, 59-48

Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 26, 2016) –
The Johnson C. Smith women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack and smothering defense to down visiting Queens 59-48 at Brayboy Gym on Saturday.

JCSU (5-1) had 13 players score against the visiting Royals, with junior forward Blaire Thomas (Waterloo, Iowa) leading the way with 10.  Teammates Asha Jordan (Monroe, N.C.) and Anika Jones (Shelby, N.C.) each had nine in the win.

JCSU was able to overcome 27 turnovers while forcing Queens into 29 miscues. Those Queens turnovers led to 34 Golden Bulls' points.  JCSU also turned in a 44.2% shooting percentage (23-of-52) on the afternoon and limited Queens to just 33.3% (14-of-42).  JCSU also bested the Royals on the boards, winning the rebound battle 33-28.

The Golden Bulls will next return to play, traveling to USC Aiken on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
