JCSU Women's Basketball Downs Paine, 84-73

Blaire Thomas led five Golden Bulls in double-figures as the Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team took an 84-73 road win on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas, a Waterloo, Iowa product and two-time winner of the CIAA Newcomer of the Week Award, had 22 points on a 7-of-16 shooting effort to lead the Golden Bulls. Teammate
MaryAnna Moore (Laurens, S.C.) posted a double-double, finishing with 12 points to go along with 11 rebounds over the Lions.
Monique Hall (Melbourne, Fla.) had 14 points while
 freshmen Malia Rivers (Pageland, S.C.) andÂ
Maiya Green (San Antonio, Tex.) had 12 and 10 points each, respectively.
The Golden Bulls improve to 7-2 on the season after shooting 44.8% (30-of-67 on the afternoon. The Golden Bulls did particularly well as the free throw line, shooting 83.3% on a 20-of-24 outing.
JCSU will next jump into CIAA play on Dec. 17 and 19 with road games at Lincoln and Bowie State.
