Box Score Poor Shooting Dooms JCSU in 61-53 Loss at Tuskegee
Tuskegee, Ala. (Dec. 4, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team managed to shoot only 28% from the field in a 61-53 road loss at Tuskegee on Sunday afternoon.
JCSU was led by junior guardÂ
Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.), as he scored a team-high 17 points. Fellow juniorÂ
Christian Kirchman (Roanoke, Va.) also scored in double-figures for the Golden Bulls, finishing with 13 points. Â
Gabon Williams (Charlotte, N.C.)Â led JCSU on the boards by securing a team high eight rebounds to go along with five points.
Tuskegee also struggled from the field, only returning a 17-of-49 performance, good for 34.7%. The Golden Tigers had four players score in double figures, led by Austin Cherry's game-high 19 points. Joshua Culver secured a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while teammates James Eads and Myles Thomas had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The loss drops JCSU to 3-5 on the season while Tuskegee picks up their first win and stands at 1-8.
The Golden Bulls will take a break for final exams and will return to the court on Monday, Dec. 12 with a road matchup at Catawba. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. as part of an Education Day program at Goodman Gymnasium in Salisbury, N.C.
