JCSU Women's Tennis Drops Weekend Matches to Catawba, Wingate

Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 8, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to local foes over the weekend, dropping a 9-0 decision at Catawba on Saturday and a 9-0 home match to Wingate on Sunday.
For the Golden Bulls (0-5), Khadijah Battle (Atlanta, Ga.) fell at No. 1 to Liz Renteria by a 6-0, 6-1 score. 
Victoria Ogundipe (Jonesboro, Ga.) dropped her match at No. 3 to Maddie Henderson by a 6-1, 6-0 count while at No. 4 singles, Michaela Colvin (Fayetteville, N.C.) fell 6-3, 6-1 to Catawba's Kristen Rocko.

Catawba was able to sweep the doubles matches, winning the No. 1 match 8-0 and taking both the No. 2 and No. 3 match by 8-4 counts.

Against Wingate on Sunday, JCSU managed to win only three games in the singles matches with Battle falling to Claudia DeAndreis 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 while Jasmine Riddick (Atlanta, Ga.) fell at No. 2 by a 6-1, 6-0 final.

Wingate also took all three doubles matches to improve to 1-0 on the season.

JCSU will return to the courts to host Converse College on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1:00 p.m. and will travel to Augusta on Saturday, Feb. 14.
