Women's Tennis Drops 6-3 Match at WSSU

JCSU Women's Tennis Falls At Winston-Salem State, 6-3Winston-Salem, N.C. (March 15, 2016) –The Johnson C. Smith University women's team took two singles wins but it was not enough at Winston-Salem State took a 6-3 CIAA Southern Division win on Tuesday afternoon.
JCSU got wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles as
Khadijah Battle (Atlanta, Ga.) and
Kaylin Roman (Atlanta, Ga.) each soared to straight set wins. Battle downed Gabrielle Lindsay by a 7-5, 6-1 count while Roman bested Zakia Spencer, 6-4, 6-3.
In doubles, the Golden Bulls tandem of
Victoria Odundipe (Jonesboro, Ga.) and
Alex Barber (Laurel, Md.) defeated Miranda Legg and Zakia Spencer by an 8-4 score.
The Rams secured wins at Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 6 singles as well as the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to take the win.
The loss drops JCSU to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in CIAA play while WSSU improves to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in CIAA matches.
The Golden Bulls will look to get back on the winning track with a match at Fayetteville State on March 17.
