Volleyball Starts Conference Play at CIAA Roundup

Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 15, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team will hit the road this weekend to begin conference play at the CIAA Roundup.
Matches begin Saturday, Sept. 17 at noon with the Golden Bulls taking on the host Bowie State Bulldogs. At 3:00 p.m., JCSU will tangle with Lincoln. The final match of the weekend will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when the Golden Bulls face Virginia Union.
JCSU enters the weekend at 1-2 overall and are led by sophomore
Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) and junior
Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.). Smoots currently leads the Golden Bulls with 28 kills while Washington has 26 to her credit.
Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) has been strong at setter in the early stages of the season, dishing out 73 assists.
Defensively, junior
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) has tallied 17 blocks while freshman
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) has managed a team-high 48 digs.
