JCSU Beats Bowie State 3-0, Falls to Lincoln 3-1 at CIAA Volleyball Roundup

Box Score 2 Bowie, Md. (Sept. 17, 2016) – Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) had a match-high 10 kills to lead Johnson C. Smith to a straight set victory over Bowie State University, winning by scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-15 on Saturday afternoon in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
Bowie State falls to 0-3 (0-1 CIAA) on the season, while Johnson C. Smith evens their season mark at 2-2 (1-0 CIAA).
Brianna Myers and Tia Williams paced the Bulldogs with three kills each while Breiona Garrsion and Cheyenne Salter added a pair of kills each in the loss. Williams led Bowie State on defense with a team-high 12 digs.
In addition to JCSU's Smoots, Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.) contributed six kills and Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) chipped in five kills in the sweep. Azha McNeil accounted for 20 of the Golden Bulls' 23 assists and Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) picked up a match-high 17 digs.
Johnson C. Smith finished the match with a .210 to minus .034 attack advantage over Bowie State and recorded 14 service aces.
In match two, JCSU fell to Lincoln, 3-1.
The Golden Bulls will wrap up play on Sunday, Sept. 18 with a match at 1:00 p.m. against Virginia Union.
