Box Score 2 JCSU Volleyball Goes 1-1 at JCSU Tri-Match
Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 3, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team was able to earn a split in the season-opening two matches at the JCSU Tri-Match in Brayboy Gym on Saturday afternoon.
In match one against Allen University, the Golden Bulls bounced back after losing the first set to take the 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22) win. Against Allen, junior
Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.) managed 10 kills and 12 digs. Junior
Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) dished out 23 assists while freshman
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) had 22 digs.
In match two, sophomore
Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) had six kills while Washington and junior
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) each tallying four kills, but it was not enough as Benedict claimed the 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-12) win. McNeil was able to hand out 16 assists while
Keondra Jones (West Columbia, S.C.) posted five digs.
The Golden Bulls (1-1) will travel to take on Johnson & Wales on Thursday, Sept. 8. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.Â
