JCSU Volleyball Drops Home Finale to WSSU, 3-0
Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2017) –Visiting Winston-Salem State got 16 kills from Mia Herrod and eight from Sydney Holland and Christa Brown to down Johnson C. Smith University 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-21) in the Goldenn Bulls' home finale on Monday night.
JCSU hit for just a .130 percentage against the perennial power Rams. Senior hitter
Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.) led the way for the Gold and Blue by knocking down a team-high seven kills. Junior
Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) had six kills and hit .250 on the night.

Cydney Calhoun (Cleveland, Ohio) had 10 digs with sophomore libero
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) contributing nine.
Senior setter
Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) handed out 23 assists on the night while fellow senior
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) had three blocks.
The loss drops the Golden Bulls to 15-7 overall, 9-6 in CIAA play and 4-5 in the Southern Division while WSSU improves to 18-6, 13-2 in CIAA play and 7-2 in divisional play.
The Golden Bulls finished 6-3 in home matches this season and will travel to Fayetteville State on Thursday, Nov. 9 for their final regular season match of the year. Regardless of the outcome, JCSU has secured a spot on the 2017 CIAA Volleyball Championship. This season's tournament will run Nov. 17-19 and will be held at the VSU Multipurpose Center on the campus of Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va.
