JCSU Women Earn 86-64 CIAA Opening Win Over Lincoln

JCSU Women Takes 86-64 Win Over Visiting Lincoln in CIAA Opener

Charlotte, N.C. (Dec. 14, 2017) – Jasmine Carter led three Johnson C. Smith University players in double-figures, helping the Golden Bulls earn an 86-64 win over visiting Lincoln University in the CIAA opener for both teams.

Carter, a Dacula, Ga. product, scored a game-high 24 points, grabbed a team-high six rebounds and contributed five assists in the win.  She finished 10-of-17 from the floor and hit four three pointers in her best game to date wearing the Gold and Blue.

Senior teammate Kendall Adams (Opelika, Ala.) had 14 points and finished 5-of-7 from the floor while fellow senior Asha Jordan (Monroe, N.C.) had 13 points for JCSU.

As a team, JCSU managed a 52.5% effort from the field on 31-of-59 shooting and was 50% from long range (9-of-18)  JCSU also owned the rebounding advantage, outhustling the Lions 42-36 on the boards.

Lincoln finished with a 32.4% from the field (22-of-68) and had four players managed double-figures, led by Michelle Fitzgerald's 13 points.  Shahra Madison had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while McKenzie Spencer and Teira Pendleton finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The win improves JCSU to 8-2, 1-0 in CIAA play while Lincoln drops to 5-4 overall, 0-1 in league play.  The Golden Bulls will next hit the floor on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 16, hosting Bowie State for another CIAA matchup.  Tipoff from Brayboy Gym will be at 2:00 p.m.
