Women's Tennis Wins CIAA Finale 7-2 Over Fayetteville State

JCSU Women's Tennis Takes 7-2 Win Over Fayetteville State
Charlotte, N.C. (April 15, 2017) –The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team completed CIAA play with a convincing 7-2 home win over Fayetteville State on April 13.

JCSU took four of the six singles contests and all three doubles matches in the win. At No. 1 singles, freshman Aria Springfield (Atlanta, Ga.) took her match after dropping the first set with a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-2) win. Senior Victoria Ogundipe (Jonesboro, Ga.) won her match at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.

Kaylin Roman (Atlanta, Ga.) and Amirah Burnett (Baltimore, Md.) won their matches at Nos. 4 and 5, also winning in straight sets.

In doubles play, JCSU took all three matches convincingly, winning 8-3 at Nos. 1 and 3 and 8-1 at the No. 2 match.

The Golden Bulls will await the pairings for the 2017 CIAA Tennis Championships which will be held April 20-22 at Bowie State University.
