Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 22, 2017)
– The Johnson & Wales University volleyball avenged an earlier season loss and dealt Johnson C. Smith University a 3-0 (15-25, 23-25, 23-25)  defeat on Friday night at the JWU Wildcat Center.

JCSU (5-1) struggled in the first set, managing a -.087 hitting percentage by connecting for just six kills on 23 attacks while committing eight errors.  Contrary to JCSU's woes, JWU hit for a robust .409 percentage in the first set, registering 13 kills to just four errors.

In set two, the two teams started with a 3-3 tie, but JWU jumped ahead by as many as six points at 15-9 and stretched the lead to 23-16, eventually taking the 25-23 win.

Set three saw the JCSU build a 10-6 lead, only to have JWU battle back to tie the set at 14-14 and would take the 20-17 lead on their way to finished the match by another 25-23 score.

JCSU's Gorana Bogdanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the way with 11 kills while Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) contributed 20 assists and a team-high seven digs.

JCSU will finish the stretch of three games in as many days on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. by hosting NAIA foe Morris College in Brayboy Gym.
