JCSU Volleyball Goes 1-1 on Day One of CIAA Volleyball Roundup
Lincoln, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2017) – The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team split their frist two matches of the CIAA Volleyball Roundup on Saturday at Rivero Hall in Lincoln, Pa.
In match one, the Golden Bulls downed the host Lions, 3-1 (25-18, 15-25, 25-11, 25-13). JCSU had two players record nine kills in
Gorana Bogdanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and
Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.). Also having a good offensive match were
Karina Pressoir (Orlando, Fla.) and
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.), with both notching eight kills in the win. Freshman
Cydney Calhoun (Cleveland, Ohio) dished out 25 assists while
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) added 13 digs in the win.
In match two, CIAA Northern Division foe Chowan downed JCSU 3-0 (25-23, 25-10, 25-18). Against the Hawks,
Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.) led the way with eight kills.
JCSU stands at 7-3 on the season and is 5-2 in league play.
The Golden Bulls will complete play on Sunday with a single match, taking on CIAA Northern Division opponent Virginia Union.
