Box Score JCSU Snaps Skid, Earns 67-57 Road Win at Fayetteville State

Fayetteville, N.C. (Jan. 13, 2018) –
The Johnosn C. Smith University men's basketball team broke open a close game with a key run midway through the second half and earned a 67-57 CIAA Southern Division road win at Fayetteville State on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bulls finished shooting 47.7% from the floor (21-of-44) and also had a stellar night from long range, hitting 8-of-12 attempts for a robust 66.7%.  Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) came alive in the second half and finished with a team-best 24 points. He was 8-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. He also hit both of his free throw attempts in the win.

Fellow senior Christian Kirchman (Roanoke, Va.)  also shot well, going 4-of-6 from the field and 1-of-1 from long range. He also was 4-of-6 from the line, finishing with 13 points. He also corralled a team-high six rebounds.

Sophomore forward Cayse Minor (Winston-Salem, N.C.) capped a fantastic week, going 5-of-6 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He also was 1-of-1 from long range, finishing with 16 points.  For the week, Minor missed one field goal, was perfect from beyond the arc, and missed just one free throw attempt.

For FSU, Denzell Hosch finished with a team-high 21 points while hitting six three-pointers.

With the win, JCSU jumps to 9-7 on the year, 2-2 in CIAA play and 1-0 in Southern Division play while FSU drops to 4-12, 1-5 and 0-1 divisional play.
