JCSU's Christian Kirchman and Stephen Joyner, Sr. Earn CIAA Weekly Awards

Charlotte, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2018) –
Johnson C. Smith University guard Christian Kirchman and head basketball coach Stephen Joyner, Sr. have earned weekly CIAA Men's Basketball Awards the league has announced.

Kirchman, a senior product from Roanoke, Va. scored a team-high 20 points and had nine assists in JCSU's 74-49 win over St. Augustine's. Against the Falcons, he shot 8-of-13 from the floor (61.5%) and was 3-of-6 from long range in the win. He also added five steals.

Currently, Kirchman leads the CIAA in assists, dishing out 6.4 per game. He is also first in steals with 2.2. per game.

Joyner, in his 32nd season at the helm of the JCSU program, has led the Golden Bulls to a 10-7 overall record and now stands at 2-0 in Southern Division play after the huge 74-49 home win over St. Augustine's last Saturday.  JCSU also stands at 3-2 in CIAA play. The honor marks the third for Joyner this season.
