Box Score Montreat Downs JCSU Men's Tennis, 6-3

Montreat, N.C. (Feb. 16, 2018) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team took two singles match and one doubles match, but it was not enough, as Montreat College took a 6-3 win over the Golden Bulls on Thursday afternoon in Montreat, N.C.

JCSU came out winners in two singles matches.  At No. 1, Desire Johnson (Hyattsville, Md.) downed Enrique Smalley by a 6-3, 6-3 score. With the win, Johnson improves to 2-6 on the season at No. 1 singles.

The Golden Bulls were also victorious at No. 2 singles, as Marlowe Anderson (Charlotte, N.C.) defeated Jacob Summerville, 6-0, 6-1. Anderson improves his singles record to 3-5.

JCSU also took the No. 1 doubles match, as Johnson and Anderson teamed for the 8-4 win over Grayson Chumley and Summerville. As a team, they improve to 1-6 in doubles play.

The team loss drops JCSU to 1-7 on the season, while Montreat improves to 4-6.  The Golden Bulls will next be in action on Sunday, Feb. 18 when they host Benedict at the Coleman-Cuthbertson Courts.
