Box Score JCSU Men's Tennis Drops 9-0 Decision to Wingate

Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2018) – The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Wingate on Thursday afternoon at the Coleman-Cuthbertson Complex.

Wingate started the day by sweeping all three doubles matches.  JCSU's Desire Johnson (Hyattsville, Md.) and Marlowe Anderson (Charlotte, N.C.) fell at No. 1 to Josep Canyadell and Duncan Addison by an 8-2 count. At No. 2, the JCSU duo of Anthony Jefferson (Atlanta, Ga.) and Gerald Miller (New Orleans, La.) fell to Matthew Jones and Enrico Giacomini 8-0 while Eric Lopez (Portoviejo, Ecuador) and Cameron Hyman (Atlanta, Ga.) dropped their No. match, 8-3.

At No. 1 singles Canyadell downed Johnson in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. JCSU was swept at both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches by a 6-0, 6-0 count. At No. 3, Miller fell by a 6-0, 6-1 score to Tamir Geva. Wingate's Addison won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 over Jefferson at No. 5 while Lopez dropped his match at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1.

The Golden Bulls now stand at 1-6 on the season.  JCSU will return to play on Feb. 15 with a road match at Montreat.
