JCSU Women's Tennis Drops Bowie State 5-0 For Fourth Straight Win
Charlotte, N.C. (March 26, 2018) – The Johnson C. Smith University women's tennis team finished the weekend with a 5-0 win over visiting Bowie State at the Life Time Athletic Club on Sunday afternoon.
JCSU was able to sweep all three doubles matches by identical 8-0 scores. Winning at No. 1 was
Halle Parker (Magnolia De.) and
Jada Strickland (Miamisburg, Ohio), improving their doubles mark to 11-6 overall and 6-1 in league play. At No. 2,
Aria Springfield (Lilburn, Ga.) and
Rayven Todd (Atlanta, Ga.) upped their season record to 3-1 and 2-0 in CIAA play. The duo of
Kaylin Roman (Atlanta, Ga.) and
Cierra Turner (Richmond, Va.) improved their season mark to 7-5 and 4-1 in league play by winning the No. 3 match.
In singles play, Springfield took her match at No. 1 with an 8-1 count while Roman took the No. 5 match 8-0 to provide the 5-0 final.
The win improves the Golden Bulls to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in CIAA play. JCSU has won six of their last seven matches, with the lone loss over that span coming at Division I Elon.
