Shaw Downs JCSU Women's Tennis, 8-1

Charlotte, N.C. (March 8, 2018) – Visiting Shaw University took five singles matches and swept the doubles matches in an 8-1 CIAA women's tennis win over Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday afternoon at the Coleman-Cuthbertson Complex.

Halle Parker (Magnolia, Del.) was the lone bright spot for the Golden Bulls, as she took her match at No. 1 singles by a 6-2, 6-1 count.

Shaw then took the remaining singles matches and swept the doubles competition.  At No. 1 doubles, Parker and teammate Jada Strickland (Miamisburg, Ohio) dropped a close 8-6 decision while at No. 2,
Aria Springfield (Atlanta, Ga.) and Michaela Colvin (Fayetteville, N.C.) fell by a 9-7 score.

The loss drops JCSU to 4-6 overall and 0-1 in CIAA play while Shaw jumps to 3-1 and 1-0 in league action.
