After its strongest showing of the weekend against Southern Wesleyan, JCSU Volleyball was shutout for the second day at the USC Aiken Opening Weekend Tournament. The Golden Bulls had their best offensive performance of the season, winning their the third set against SWU before falling 3-1 to the Knights.
JCSU lost to host USC Aiken 3-0 in their final match of the tournament.

JCSU recorded 44 kills, including a game high 16 kills in their victorious third set. Freshman
Karizma Brooks had a breakout match leading the Golden Bulls with 10 kills and 6 blocks.Â
Georgina Diaz recorded a team high 23 digs.
Despite the loss, the JCSU women found an offensive rhythm scoring points(21-25, 15-25, 27-25, 21-25) Â with a significantly better hitting percentage than the previous day.

JCSU lost its momentum from the morning match as the fatigue of playing four matches in the first two days of the season took its toll.
The Golden Bulls could only manage 22 kills while committing 21 errors compared to USC-Aiken's 40 kills and 12 errors.Â
Taylor Smith led JCSU with 7 kills while
Joi Haywood recorded 17 assists. She and
Georgina Diaz led the team with 10 digs each.
JCSU returns to the court for their home opener on Thursday (Aug 30) when they host Benedict College. First serve is set for 6:30pm in Brayboy Gymnasium.
