Two good players are better than one and the Johnson C. Smith duo of Cayse Minor and Roddric Ross out performed Winston-Salem State's William Crandell to lead the Golden Bulls to a 73-62 victory over their Southern Division rival.
Crandell finished the contest with a game high 27 points.
Minor and Ross countered with a combined 42 points (25 for Cayse and 17 for Roddric) to lead the Golden Bulls to their second straight win.
JCSU took advantage of 20 WSSU turnovers, scoring 27 points off Ram miscues. The game was tied four times with the Golden Bulls holding steady in the second half after taking a 41-30 lead at halftime.
With the win, JCSU improves to 6-12 overall, 3-8 in conference play and 2-3 in the CIAA South.
Winston-Salem State falls to 9-9 overall, 4-6 in the CIAA and 3-2 in the division.
JCSU returns to action on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 2 when they host Shaw University. Tip off is set for 4:00 p.m.
