Roddric Ross led the Golden Bulls with 16 points, while
Cayse Minor finished with 10 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 17 point deficit in the second half as JCSU's men fell to Bowie State 67-65, Saturday afternoon.
Cold shooting hampered JCSU as BSU went on 8-0 run in the final 3 minutes of the first half to take a 41-30 lead into the locker room. Â The Bulldogs extended their lead to 47-30 when BSU opened the second half with a 6-0 run. Â
JCSU went nearly five minutes without scoring,
Midway through the second half, JCSU got hot and went on a 13-7 run of its own to tie the score at 63.
JCSU's Ross and Bowie State's David Belle got into a free throw shooting contest in the final 15 seconds of the game. Â Ross tied the score at 65-65 with two free throws with 15 seconds to play. Â Belle then sank two free tosses with one second remaining to give the Bulldogs the win.
With the loss, the Golden Bulls fall to 2-7 overall on the season, 0-3 in the CIAA. Bowie State improves to 6-8 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.
