FOOTBALL HOST FAYETTEVILLE STATE FOR “GOLD” DAY

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Johnson C. Smith University football will look to get back into the win-column after suffering its first division loss of the season at Winston-Salem State by hosting division foe Fayetteville State University on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Irwin Belk Complex for Gold Game. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to wear Gold as the team will sports their Gold jerseys on the field on Saturday. 

The Golden Bulls are 2-4 on the season entering Saturday's game under the leadership head coach Kermit Blount. Smith suffered a 23-7 decision at Winston-Salem State in its last outing.

The Golden Bulls are averaging 17.5 points per game offensively, while allowing 29.8 points on defense. Mailk Evans leads the offense from the quarterback spot with 234 passing yards and one touchdown while Emanuel Wilson 797 rushing yards leads the ground game.

Defensively, Demarcus Jordan is the team's leader in tackles with 31 and a conference-best six tackles per outing.

The Broncos of FSU enters Saturday's contest with 5-1 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the CIAA under the leadership Richard Hayes, Jr. in his fourth. The Broncos have tallied 41.3 points per game while holding its opponents to 19.7 points per outing.

This will be the 67th meeting between Smith and Fayetteville State, since the first contest in 1928. The Golden Bulls hold an 34-30-3 overall advantage in the series.
