Golden Bulls Fall to Shaw on Homecoming

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Johnson C. Smith University football team fell to Shaw University, 36-19 on Saturday, Oct. 26 in front of a packed Homecoming crowd at the Irwin Belk Complex.
 
The Golden Bulls record now drops to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the league while the Bears improved to 4-4 and 3-2 in the CIAA.
 
JCSU's Emanuel Wilson scored the game's first touchdown after marching 39-yards on six plays. Shaw answered in the second quarter when Beni Kinsemi  capped off a 16-play drive for 92 yards with a 24 yard field goal with 13:38.

The Bears put the game within one as Kinsemi punched in another three points for the Bears, 7-6 with 12:13 in the second quarter.

JCSU's Antiono Wallace found Ivoree Atkinson for the 13 yard touchdown pass. The point after touchdown was no good. JCSU lead was now 13-6.

Shaw couldn't capitalize on offense and had to settled on a 36 yard field goal with 3:17 in the quarter. 

Right before the half for Smith, Emanuel Wilson rushed for his 1,000 yard mark. 

In the third quarter, Shaw decided to punt and from there Braxton Gambrell to it to the end zone for 74 yards. The point after touchdown was no good, as Smith led 19-9.
 
Much of the third quarter was an offensive struggle for the Golden Bulls. The Bears went to the air as Torrin Campbell connected with Kevonta Moses for the four yard touchdown pass.

Next, Campbell found Marquis Gorham in the end zone for 36 yards, to take the lead for the first time.
 
In the fourth, the Bears patted their lead with a 20 yard pass as Campbell connected with Moses again. 
 
Shaw's final score came from a 68 yard interception as Jalell Scroggins found the end zone, push the lead to 36-19 in favor of the Bears.
 
Shaw finished with 394 total offense, including 182 rushing and 167 passing while the Golden Bulls posted 256 total offensive yards (67 rushing, 189 passing).  Wallace  completed 16 -of-11 passes for 138-yards and one touchdown while  running back Donnell Thompson recorded 55-rushing yards on five carries and Janarius Hood finished with 66-yards on five catches.
 
Defensively, David Francis collected a game-high 10 tackles, followed by Camerron Ellis  with eight
