CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Johnson C. Smith University football program closed its 2019 slate with a 34-6 victory over rival Livingstone College in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contest in the 11th annual Commemorative Classic for its ninth win on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Stadium in Salisbury, N.C.

The Golden Bulls conclude the season 4-6 overall, 3-4 in the CIAA and 2-3 within the Southern Division. LC falls to 4-6 overall, 1-6 in conference play and 0-5 in the division.

In the first quarter, JCSU Christian Benitez booted a 30 field goal to lead Livingstone 3-0 with 10:44.
Although statistics showed the Golden Bulls with a total offense of 326 yards compared to the Blue Bears 140 yards, Smith got off to a fast start and season-best four touchdowns.

Emanuel Wilson for the games second score of the contest at the 5:43 in the second quarter, as JCSU led 10-0.Â

The next possession put the Golden Bulls in great scoring position which led to Malik Evans connecting with
Braxton Gambrell for 42 yards, and a 17-0 lead over LC with 2:31 on the game clock.

As the half expires Benitez went in for the 35 field goal that made the score 20-0, JCSU at intermission.

Late in the third, Evans, scampered in for the 19 yard touchdown extending the Golden Bulls led 27-0. Later on Evans found
Janarius Hood for a 48 yard touchdown pass with 14:27 left in the fourth quarter as JCSU led 34-0.Â
The Golden Bulls wanted the shut out, but LC manage to get their only touchdown of the game late in the fourth. The point after was no good.

Individually, Evans completed 8-of-19 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns in addition to six carries for 44 rushing yards and a touchdown. Hood led the receiving unit with two receptions for 84 yards and one touchdown while Gambrell caught two for 55 yards and one touchdown.

Tyki Lawson-Oates recorded a game-high 11 total tackles, including seven solo, four assisted and 1.5 tackle for losses.Â
