Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Golden Bulls win in Overtime 80-76, over Bowie St.

LARGO, Md. –  The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team relied on a hot shooting in the second-half run and a tenacious defensive performance in overtime of the game to squeeze out a 80-76 win over Bowie State University in a non-conference Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contest inside Novack Fieldhouse Thursday evening.

The victory was the Bears (18-8, 10-4 CIAA) fourth straight and sixth division win on the year as they now stand 6-2 for second place. SAU (12-13, 9-5 CIAA) falls to 4-4 within the South for third.

Senior guard Cayse Minor and Justice Goodloe were the only Golden Bulls to score in double figures. Minor rattled 31 points while Goodloe scored a game-high 16 points.

Both teams shot around 40-percent, but the Golden Bulls saw more action at the charity stripe, hitting 20-of-31 (64-percent) compared to the Bulldogs who went 19-of-25 times (76-percent). In addition, Smith gained 21 points off BSU's 23 turnovers and both teams 32 points in the paint.

The Golden Bulls will return to action Saturday, Dec. 14 at Lincoln (Pa.)
