Turnovers Cost Golden Bulls 54-37 loss at Bowie State

LARGO, Md. –  The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team was responsible for a season-high 32 turnovers that cost them an 54-37 decision at Bowie State University in a non-conference Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contest on Thursday evening inside the Novack Fieldhouse.

BSU (8-0) scored 30-points off the Golden Bulls (4-4) turnovers while adding 24 points in the paint. JCSU finished with just 10 points in the paint and tallied 16 points off the Bulldogs 26 turnovers.

The third quarter featured more inconsistency from both teams, they struggled in particularly on the defensive end. Both teams didn't get into double figure scoring. JCSU held BSU to a 9-8 score in the third quarter. Although Bowie outscored JCSU 22-11 in the final quarter, it was a little too late for a comeback as the Golden Bulls had fell too deep in a whole, they would not be able to overcome.

Emani Clough scored a season low of nine points to lead Smith, while Malia Rivers added eight points.

The Bulldogs have won their eight-consecutive game of the season. They were led by Dynaisha Christian with a game-high 16 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, followed by Talanya Hutton with 15 points and Kyaja Williams with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Smith will continue up north on Saturday, Dec. 14 taking on the Lions of Lincoln (Pa.) versus. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
