SALISBURY - A second straight smothering second half helped the Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team to a 63-48 road victory over rival Livingstone College Saturday afternoon. The victory improved the Golden Bulls to 9-8 overall while the Lady Blue Bears drops to 7-9.

Four players scored in double figures for the Golden Bulls led by Le'Zarea Bowens who scored a team-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds. Malia Rivers charted 16 points following Aubriana Bonner 11 points, 10 rebounds.

Denajah Porter scored 10 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Smith gathered a 17-12 lead in the opening quarter. The Golden Bulls would end up taking a stand on a 10-2 run heading into the second quarter.

The second half showed to be much of a better shooting stand JCSU as they shot 45 percent (27-59).

However, the Golden Bulls dominance in the first half proved to be too much for Livingstone to handle.
