Nenad Milenkovic scored a game-high 16 points, including a three pointer to close out the first half, to help Johnson C. Smith University to beat Winston-Salem State University, 55-52 on Wednesday night inside Brayboy Gym.
Ben Cox added a career-high 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Golden Bulls (18-7, 12-4 CIAA, 9-2 Div.), who led by two at halftime and by as many as seven in the win against the CIAA-leading Rams (15-10, 12-4 CIAA, 8-3 Div.)
WSSU got as close as one with about seven minutes left, only to see JCSU answer with a short jumper to take a one point lead.
Late in the second half the Rams called a timeout, however, they didn't have any which forced the Golden Bulls to shoot the technical fouls.
Cayse Minor went to the line missing both.
On the next possession, Milenkovic was fouled and went to the line for two to sealed the win.
The Golden Bulls host Shaw on Saturday for their final game of the season.
