With the game tied and less than a second to play, WSSU was fouled and sent to the line for two. Brandi Segars hits the second free throw as Winston-Salem State stunned JCSU, 63-61 on Wednesday night inside Brayboy Gym.
JCSU, which was limited to 30% shooting from the field in the first 20 minutes managed to lead 42-31 in the second half. WSSU went on a 9-0 run to cut the Golden Bulls lead 42-40 with 3:07 to play.
JCSU made 30.9% shooting but WSSU shot 46.9% from the field, and out rebounded the Golden Bulls, 44-30.
Aubriana Booner had 25 points, while
Maiya Green and
Le'Zarea Bowens scored 10 each for JCSU (16-10, 11-4 CIAA, 8-3 Div.).Â
O'Shea Hatley had 18 points and five rebounds for WSSU (12-15, 7-9 CIAA, 6-5 Div.).
JCSU hosts Shaw on Saturday for its final home game.Â
