Golden Bulls Folded by Winston-Salem St. in five set battle

CHARLOTTE - Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team fell in five sets to Winston-Salem State University Thursday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium.  The Golden Bulls fell in the first and third set, 25-17, 25-8 but won sets two and four 25-20, 25-19 before falling 15-12 in the last set.

The loss dipped the Golden Bulls to 4-12 on the season, 4-8 in CIAA and is 1-6 in the division, while the Rams moved up to 9-13, 7-6 in the CIAA and 4-3 on the year.

Daviez Bell paced the Golden Bulls offensively with a team-best 11 kills and four blocks while Maya Crawford chipped in nine kills and eight digs. Jada Berry led the setters with 38 assists.

Defensively, Monique Reid gathered 26 digs, followed by Crawford and Berry.

The Golden Bulls will host the Broncos of Fayetteville State, on Monday Nov. 1
