MBB Tops SAU 69-61

RALEIGH - The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball topped the Falcons of Saint Augustine's University, 69-61 Wednesday night inside Emery Gymnasium in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division contest.
 
Three Golden Bulls (4-9, 1-4 CIAA) scored in double figures for JCSU led by Augustine Ominu who finished with a game-high 16 points and six rebounds.
 
Joining Ominu in double digits was Stephen Sherrill who tallied 12 points while Michael Roberson chipped in 11 points.
 
The Golden Bulls finished the game shooting 61.8 percent (25 of 41) from the floor while the Falcons shot 51.4 percent (23-of-45). From long distance, JCSU connected 9-of-13 three-pointers (69.3 percent) compared to SAU's 40.8 percent (12-of-30). At the charity stripe, the Golden Bulls netted 90.9 percent (10-of-11) while the Falcons accounted for 63.6 percent (7-of-11).

SAU (3-13, 1-5 CIAA) was led by Dhashon Dyson ended the night with 24 points.

JCSU will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 22 at I-85 rival Livingstone College at 4 p.m.
