Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Golden Bulls fell to the Rams of Winston-Salem State University 28-7, inside Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bulls drop to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in CIAA play, while WSSU improves to 3-5 and 3-3 in conference play.
In the third quarter Robert Adams fumbled in the end zone and the Rams recovered to lead, 7-0. The Rams once again score on a quarterback scamper to lead 14-0.
Late in the fourth quarter JCSU's Robert Adams ran in for the five-yard touchdown to cut into the Rams lead, 14-7.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Rams returned it for 85 yards for the score, leading 21-7. With 3:36 in the fourth quarter the Rams sealed the deal with a 35-yard interception and winning 28-7.
Tyreik Leach rushed for 46 yards on 10 carries, while quarterback Robert Adams completed 10-for-23 passes for 117 yards and one interception in the loss.
The Golden Bulls collected 211 total yards, 117 in passing and 94 on the ground.
Up next, the Golden Bulls will travel to Salisbury, N.C. to take on the Bears of Livingstone College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
