Uncasville, Conn. – The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team stayed within reach of Clark Atlanta University, but could not contain a hot-shooting Panthers squad in a 62-54 setback inside the Mohegan Sun Arena during the Consolation game of the Chris Paul HBCU Tipoff Classic on Wednesday afternoon.
JCSU was powered by Javon Floyd's game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds while Freshman Ezekiel Cannedy chipped in 13 points.
Clark Atlanta improved to 1-3 after connecting on 51-percent (23-45) from the field for the game, including 68-percent (11-16).
The Golden Bulls stayed within reach, closing the gap to three points at the 1:53 mark with a bucket from Floyd, however the Panthers went to the line to close out the game.
