CHARLOTTE - Five Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls finished in double-figure scoring to collect their fourth win of the season, as the Golden Bulls defeated visiting Bluefield State 100-95 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.
With the win, the Gold and Blue improves to 4-5 overall on the season.
Javon Floyd finished with 28 points and six rebounds Ezekiel Cannedy followed with 22 points and teammate Cedric Patterson dropped 20 points Todd Johnson and Zane Redmond followed with 10 points each. Patterson had a team high of eight rebounds.
The Golden Bulls finished the night shooting 57% from the floor while just connecting on 7-19 shots from beyond the arc. JCSU also finished 21-27 from the charity stripe. JCSU limited Bluefield State to just 46% shooting from including just 38% from three-point range. The Golden Bulls out rebounded Big Blue 42-30.
JCSU will begin CIAA play as the Golden Bulls return to the court Saturday, December 17, as JCSU will host Bowie State. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. inside historic Brayboy Gymnasium.
