CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team fell 62-48 to the visiting Bulldogs of Bowie State University on Saturday afternoon Brayboy Gymnasium. The loss dips the Golden Bulls (4-5) to an 0-1 start in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) as the Bulldogs (6-4) improve to 1-0 against league opponents.
Shaniya Jones scored a game-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, two steals while
India Howard added eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.
For the contest, both teams shot over 30-percent from the field and Bowie connected 14 of 21 free-throws (56%) but the Golden Bulls and Bulldogs each scored 26 points in the paint.
JCSU will return to action on Monday, Dec. 19 versus Lincoln (Pa.) University for a CIAA cross division contest. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
