Box Score BALTIMORE (Feb. 23) – The Livingstone men exploded to an early lead and never looked back in a 74-58 first-round victory over Johnson C. Smith in the CIAA Tournament at Royal Farms Arena on Wednesday.
The Blue Bears (13-9 overall), seeded fifth, moved to Thursday's quarterfinals where No. 4 seed Lincoln (Pa.) awaits. The tipoff time for the matchup is 6 p.m.
No. 12 seed Johnson C. Smith ended its season at 5-19 overall.
O'Koye Parker tied for game-high honors with 20 points for the Blue Bears, who built a 40-18 halftime lead. Kyrie Temple added 16 points and Deshone Hicks finished with 10 points. Parker also had four steals and Navar Elmore snatched nine rebounds.
Livingstone opened its first-half lead by shooting 47.2 percent from the floor and limiting Johnson C. Smith to 27.6 percent shooting. The Blue Bears scored 20 points off 12 Golden Bulls' turnovers in the opening stanza.
The Blue Bears' lead swelled to 30 points in the second half, but the Golden Bulls shot 54.2 percent to make the final score respectable.
Augustine Ominu scored 20 points to lead the Golden Bulls.
Chaz Gwyn added 13 points and Todd Johnson chipped in 11 points.
Xavier Jones had 10 rebounds and six assists.
