JCSU wins its first home game over St. Aug’s 3-1

CHARLOTTE - Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball (2-2) won its second consecutive victory with a 3-1 conference match at home against Saint Augustine's University (0-1) Thursday night at Brayboy Gymnasium. The Golden Bulls defeated the Falcons, 25-23, 25-17, 18-25 and 25-22.

JCSU totaled 40 kills with 25 errors in 101 attack attempts (.149), five service aces, 28 digs and nine total blocks. Carmi Goodwin and Daviez Bell finished the night of with 14 and nine kills.

Meanwhile, setter Monique Reid handed out 22 assists and five digs while Yasmine Cannon registered six assists, eight digs and four blocks.

The Golden Bulls defense was anchored by Goodwin who hauled in 13 digs.

JCSU will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 in a tri-match against the University of Charleston of West Va. and Central State, hosted by the University of Charleston.
