CHARLOTTE - Johnson C. Smith turned its hard-nosed defense into a crucial conference win.
The Golden Bulls forced 25 turnovers and limited Livingstone College to 34.8% shooting from the field and 46.1% on 3-pointers and rolled to a 54-50 win on Saturday at Brayboy Gym.
JCSU opened the game with a 10-8 lead and survived numerous Livingstone second-half runs to finally secure its fourth home win. The victory gives JCSU (7-10, 3-5 CIAA, 2-1 Div).
The Gold and Blue had two players in double figures:
Le'Zarea Bowens with 15 points and
India Howard rounded out with 11. Howard led the team with eight rebounds.
Livingstone (6-12,2-7,2-1) got 14 points from Andresia Alexander
JCSU is on the road on Thursday against Winston-Salem State inside the C.E. Gaines.
