BOWIE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team earned its third win of the season with a 66-59 victory over Bowie State University, Tuesday evening to open CIAA play.
The victory improves JCSU to 3-4, 1-0 CIAA in the young season while Bowie State dropped to 6-3, 1-1 CIAA on the year.
Ciara Harris and Alexis Daley Ellis each led the Golden Bulls in points. Harris scored 21 while Daley-Ellis chipped in 13 points.
Ashlei Kirven rounded out the Golden Bulls double-figure rebounds with 13 rebounds.
The contest featured the Golden Bulls and the Bulldogs with three lead changes while JCSU scored 30 points in the paint.
JCSU connected on 47 percent (22-46) from the field with a 38 percent (7-18) from behind the arc. The Golden Bull also hit 83 percent (15-18) of their free throws.
