CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team got a 25-point performance from the bench on the way to a 78-71 victory over the Virginia Union Panther at home Wednesday.
The Golden Bulls (7-13, 3-9) had three players score in double figures, led by
Cartier Jernigan, who had 20 points and four steals.
Ezekiel Cannedy added 13 points and
Javon Floyd chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds.
After leading 10-0, VUU went on a 9-0 run. The Panthers cut that lead and entered halftime down 37-35.
VUU extended its lead to six points twice with the final time. JCSU battled back to tie the game on two occasions at 41-all before taking the lead for the rest of the contest. Although VUU was able to trim its deficit to six with 1:31 left, the Golden Bulls came away with the victory.
