Bowling gears up for CIAA Championships

CHARLOTTE  – The Johnson C. Smith University women's bowling team is gearing up for this year's Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Bowling Championship which will take place on Saturday, Mar. 25 and Sunday, Mar. 26 Salem, Va.

The Golden Bulls will be one of eight teams total competing in this year's conference championship as the No. 3 seed, Elizabeth City State as the No. 4 seed while Shaw, Virginia Union, Livingstone and Virginia State ranks 5-8.

Fayetteville State earned the No. 1 overall seed, claiming the Southern Division title.

Bowie State, the sixth-time defending CIAA champions enter this weekend's championship as the No. 2 seed after claiming the Northern Division title.

The championship will take place at the Lee Hi Lanes located at 1830 Apperson Drive, Salem, Va.

The opening ceremony will begin at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday. The championship is free and open to the public.
