CHARLOTTE - In a tightly contested Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross division contest, the Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team won another overtime thriller to come away with a 88-80 win over the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on Thursday evening inside Brayboy Gymnasium.
JCSU improves to 9-4 overall, 4-2 in the CIAA, while ECSU dips to 5-12 overall and 2-4 in the CIAA.
Ezekiel Cannedy had a season high of 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 4-of-10 from behind the arc.
Avery Huggins and
Javon Anderson each tallied 17 points and
Cedric Patterson chipped in 10 points.
Huggins also led in rebounds with eight.
The Golden Bulls hit 27-of-62 from the field for 43.5-percent shooting compared to ECSU's 33-80 (41.9-percent).
Reggie Raynor led the Vikings with 18 points.
Up next, The Golden Bulls will host the Rams of Winston-Salem State on Jan. 13, to begin Southern Division play. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
