CHARLOTTE – After a long break away from the court, the Golden Bulls basketball teams are back in action as Johnson C. Smith University returns home on Thursday, Jan. 4, as they host the Trojans of Virginia State University inside the historic Brayboy Gymnasium in Charlotte, N.C. for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross division matchup.
 
Tip-off for the women is set for 5:30 p.m., with the men will follow. Both games will be streamed on the JCSU Sports Network.
 
The women's team last played on Dec. 19 defeating non-conference opponent Benedict 89-61, marking four wins and six losses on the season, while the men fell to Bowie State on Dec. 18, with a 6-4 record.
 
Earlier in the week, the VSU women's basketball team defeated Chowan University 66-47. With the win VSU moves to 11-1 overall.
 
The VSU men's basketball team hosted the Falcons of St. Augustine's won, 78-63. With the win the Trojans improve to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
