JCSU snaps 4-game losing streak, beats Shaw 76-73

CHARLOTTE — Ezekiel Cannedy scored 18 points, Jamauri Bryant added 15 points and Johnson C. Smith beat Shaw, 76-73 on Tuesday night in Brayboy Gym to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Golden Bulls didn't score their first basket until the 15:01 mark to break the Bears 11-0 run in the first half and to overcome being down as much as 17 points, twice.
Shaw led in the first half 39-27, but in the second half it was all Golden Bulls.

With 12:07 in the second half, the Golden Bulls trimmed the lead to three (54-51) on a layup by Javon Floyd. The Golden Bulls went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead 59-58.
With 5:48, JCSU led for the first time on a dunk by, Bryant, leading 62-61.

It was a back and forth for the Bears and Golden Bulls as each team exchanges three pointers and free throws.
In the final five seconds the Golden Bulls secured the win at the free throw line.

DJ Thomas scored 24 points for Shaw (10-9, 6-5, 2-3). Shayne Saigo added 15 points and nine rebounds and Trent McIntyre had 14 points.

JCSU (11-8, 6-6, 2-4) will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on Winston-Salem State,  Thursday, Feb. 1, as tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
