CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team earned its 10
th win of the season with a 71-49 victory over Southern Division foe Shaw University, Tuesday evening inside Brayboy Gym.
The victory improves JCSU to 4-1 in the division and 7-4 in the conference, while Shaw dropped to 11-9, 6-5 and 2-3 in the division.
Alexis Daley-Ellis led the Golden Bulls with 14 points and three rebounds while
Najah Lane netted 13 points.
Kelis Carmon rounded out the Golden Bulls double-figure scoring with 13 points.
The contest featured the Golden Bulls largest lead of 25 as JCSU held a 36-27 edge on the boards and 34 points in the paint.
JCSU connected on 39 percent (27-69) from the field with a 33.3 percent (9-27) night from behind the arc. Surprisingly, the Golden Bulls went 100 percent (8-8) of their free throws.
Elisha Quinn led Shaw with 14 points and Alexis Radcliff chipped in 13 points and six rebounds.
Shaw shot 38.3 percent (19-49) from the floor with a 46.0 percent effort (6-13) from three-point range for the game, in addition to its 41.3 percent (5-12) from the charity stripe.
Up next, the Golden Bulls will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on the Rams of Winston-Salem St., on Thursday, Feb. 1. Tip-Off is set for 5:30 p.m.
